Pallet limits
Four of these are hard stops. The rest shape how a stack is built.
| Setting | Default | What it protects |
|---|---|---|
| Footprint | 48 × 40 in | Fit in the trailer or container. EUR 120 × 80 cm, EUR2 120 × 100 cm and 42 × 42 in are built in. |
| Target height, pallet excluded | 68.9 in | Double-stacking and door clearance. 175 cm is the usual European ceiling. |
| Height it may be pushed to | +3.937 in | Opening one more pallet for three cases costs more than 10 cm of height. Never exceeded silently — the plan says so. |
| Weight cap, pallet included | 3,000 lb | Forklift and racking limits, and the carrier’s paperwork. |
| Pallet tare | 45 lb | Shipped weight, so a freight quote is not short by the weight of the wood. |
| Edge clearance | 0.787 in, tightened to 0.394 in | Stretch wrap and the fact that cases are never exactly their stated size. |
| Support under a case | 75% of its base | A hard rule: no more than a quarter of a case may hang over air. |
| Layer height tolerance | 0.75 in | Cases of nearly equal height still form one flat layer to carry the next. |
| Partial-layer threshold | 80% filled | Below it the layer is treated as partial and cannot carry a full layer above. |
| Heavy-on-top tolerance | 15% | An upper layer’s average case weight may exceed the layer below it by this much, no more. |
| Crush check depth | 8 layers | How far down the accumulated load is checked against each case. |
| Top block | 2 cases high, 24 in max | Stops the planner building a tower out of the last few cases. |
Built-in vehicles
Inside dimensions, not outside. Every number is read from the product.
| Vehicle | Inside | Payload |
|---|---|---|
| 20' Dry Container | 232.1 × 92.5 × 94.2 in | 57,300 lb |
| 40' Dry Container | 473.7 × 92.5 × 94.2 in | 58,900 lb |
| 40' High Cube | 473.7 × 92.5 × 106.2 in | 58,600 lb |
| 53' Dry Van | 630 × 100 × 108 in | 42,000 lb |
| 48' Dry Van | 570 × 100 × 108 in | 42,000 lb |
| Citroën Jumper L3H2 | 157.5 × 55.9 × 74.8 in | 2,646 lb |
The van’s width is the narrow measurement. A Jumper L3H2 is 73.6 in wide above the wheel arches and 55.9 in between them. The planner treats a vehicle as one box, so it uses the narrow figure — a plan built on 73.6 in would put cases where the arches are. Raise it in the settings if your van is flat-floored, and check the payload against your own registration document.
Container doors are narrower than the box: door clearance is held separately and a pallet that fits the inside but not the door is reported, not silently loaded.
Your own vehicle, and the container rules
Anything not on the list is three numbers away.
- Custom vehicle — choose “custom” and enter inside length, width and height plus the payload. Measure the inside, at the narrowest point, and subtract nothing for wrap: the planner already does.
- Editing a preset — a preset can be corrected for your fleet; the change is remembered per company and the original stays available.
- Pallet rotation — on by default, so a pallet may turn 90°. Turn it off if your crew loads one way only.
- Stacking pallets — a pallet placed on another must have at least 75% of its base supported.
- Weight distribution — you get a warning when the load’s centre of gravity drifts more than 10% of the vehicle length from the middle, and only when the load is over 30% of the payload. A light load cannot break an axle limit.
This is not an axle-load calculation. Tiercube warns about longitudinal drift; it does not compute steer, drive and trailer axle weights, and it does not know your route’s bridge formula. The plan is a recommendation — load safety stays with the loader.
